Hadleigh, Essex, England

Hello just a quick message to say I really enjoyed the corps newsletter and to keep up the good work. I miss being able to occassionally pop over to the Citadel as I always had a good time and felt welcome there. God Bless. Richard Wright (Formerly of Syd's but now in exile!)

Thank you for the newsletter. It's a very interesting publication particularly the notes from the 1960's. Glad to see Peggy & Rodney are still active. Thank you once again. Bob Walker

Hendon Corps, London

I've been to the site before and, through its work, unknown to me, I have now commenced correspondence with Madeline Mulryne and via her contacts, the daughter of Eric Mulryne, an erstwhile Junior Soldier of the Corps. His Dad was David Mulryne, euphonium player in the John Wilson Band of the 30's. Looking through the messages I have "stumbled" across so many names from my boyhood - The Langtry's, Shaw's, Stewart's, Leithams (of Lurgan?) and others. Now I see that Roy Darrah is Recruiting Sergeant. I briefly met Roy in CNN Centre when Hendon Band was at The Centennial Congress in Atlanta. He is related to Lily Mulryne's husband, Fred, one-time trombonist in the Citadel. Roy are you Ted's son? How come I am suddenly so old? Names fold the years and enable a huge step back in memory. I still hear the old Citadel Band marching down Dublin Road, flags flying and susaphones at the front - wonderful! It was always sunny and I lived just round the corner, with my Grandma, in Maryville Street.

Enjoyed reading your guestbook. brought back many childhood memories. My father Ernest Mulryne and his brothers played in the band in the 1930's and my Mother and Father were Salvation Army officersin Belfast. Sadly I have lost touch with everyone connected with them but would be grateful if anyone who knew them would get in touch with me . madeline44@hotmail.co.uk
